A couple years ago, I was driving my 2007 Volkswagen Jetta down I-95 at very high speeds (I have a very heavy foot, so if you ever have a reason to fear me, fear me on the road) on an almost empty highway – there was one car in the lane next to me. For some reason, that very intelligent driver decided to cut into my lane (mind you, the highway was empty, he could’ve gone in any other direction, but no, I guess my lane was more appealing) and that move resulted in my rear-ending that car at the undisclosed, yet high speed. The crash was pretty intense , but when I inspected my car, it was in perfect shape! There was a tiny little crack on the bumper that is barely visible. I was really impressed with how the car came out of that incident. I was also fine, a little shaken, but alive and unharmed.
Tonight, I was driving on I-95 again during rush hour and had to stop short, the girl driving behind me didn’t react in time and rear-ended me. Again, my car was impeccable! I small panel along my back bumper was pushed in and her white car paint was smeared on mine, but I wasn’t hurt and the car was left in almost perfect condition.
After being loyal to Volkswagen for over six years, I’ve been toying with the idea of switching to a Mini Cooper in June, when my lease expires, but looking back at all the terrifying situations that little German piece of machinery got me through, I’m loyal for life!
From accidents to hydroplaning and from spinning out of control (just once) to even veering away from a crazy man who decided to run across I-95 (yes, that has actually happened!), Volkswagen has my devotion.
Volkswagen, not only do you make me feel safe, you actually keep me safe. Thank you for being so awesome.

I *love* both of my VWs. The first one (a 2002) more than the second (2008) though. But, obviously I loved the first one so much I had to get another when I graduated. My only qualms were on the first one that the windows fell into the doors (apparently a known problem). But with its twinkly blue lights, easy ride, and the knowledge that if someone hit me I wasn’t going to be roadkill, I think they’re the only cars I’ll ever drive! : ) Glad you’re okay!!!
Your windows fell into the door? That’s horrible! My first VW was a 2001 Passat and by 2006 I had to replace the transmission. What a hassles that was! And in a year (the day after the warranty expired!) the transmission failed on me again. That’s when I sold it and got the Jetta. Almost everyone in my family has a VW.
After sharing this story a lot of VW drivers have popped up telling me about their experiences and I haven’t a single bad thing. Granted, there a few problems here and there, but no one has cursed the manufacturer.
I cosigned for a friend and eventually inherited at VW Rabbit. I’m used to driving pick up trucks so getting used to driving a small car wasn’t easy. But I must say it’s fun to drive and it’s got great power and I love driving like an idiot in that thing. I weave in and out of traffic and I can park that thing anywhere. My only complaint it, there is one headlight that goes out every few months
Hmm, have you checked the fuse? Or maybe you’re buying useless bulbs?
The Rabbit is awesome! The only reason I didn’t get it is because I don’t like hatchbacks, but it is a fun car
